2022 September Brooks BBQ

I wanted to thank everyone who volunteered and/or stopped in to support our annual Brooks Chicken BBQ yesterday.  Without your willingness to help and support this fundraiser, we would not have been able to have such a successful event!  We sold out 800 chicken dinners by about 2:30 PM.  I anticipate making around $1,600.  Jim Pudish will update us on the final numbers once compiled.

Thank you again for taking time out of your schedules to help make our community a better place!

Broome County Clerk

Joseph Mihalko, County Clerk from Broome County spoke at our club meeting about how the Broome County Clerk's office is handling business during the COVID pandemic.

County Clerk's Office: The Broome County Clerk’s Office oversees the processing, filing, scanning and storing of thousands of vital property, business and court documents every year. We oversee records dating back to 1806 including deeds, mortgages, judgments, liens, maps, civil and criminal actions. Our staff assists thousands of people each year with their filing and searching of these public documents.

Many of these documents are now available online at www.gobcclerk.com. Here you can find land records dating back to 1946 and court documents going back to 1986.

The Department of Motor Vehicles:  The DMV provides original and renewal vehicle registrations, driver’s licenses and learner permits. The DMV is responsible for issuing conditional and restricted license and non-driver identification cards in accordance to New York State Federal Rules and Regulations.

Please visit one of our two local DMV offices at 81 Chenango St, Binghamton or 137 Washington Ave, Endicott or one of our four satellite offices (a schedule of these offices can be found here). When you visit our local DMV offices in person, Broome County retains 12.7% of your transaction revenue; when you mail it to Albany, the State government keeps all of the fees.

Records Management: The Records Management division is responsible for storing and maintaining County Records as well as overseeing the proper retention and destruction based on New York State Guidelines.

2018 Food Bank Donation

The Binghamton Breakfast Rotary Club made a $500 donation to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.  This will support the Binghamton High School BackPack Program to make a difference in the life of a child struggling with hunger.

In the Southern Tier, fifty percent of school-aged children qualify for free or reduced price lunch during the school year.  That equates to over 40,000 kids who are at risk of being hungry.

When school is not in session over weekends and holiday breaks, many of those children do not have access to enough nutritious food so adequately support their physical and cognitive development.

Darlene had a wonderful weekend visit with Cara and her parents.  They visited the Cathedral in Cologne, and are pictured enjoying a beer and some hearty potato soup at a well known brewery.

They spent time shopping in Dusseldorf, and sightseeing.  Cara is doing well in her studies, and just finished an 18 page term paper in English.  It counts for half her grade in English, and after proofreading it, I can assure the club it is college level work.
