Club Secretary Darrell Dennison announced that the Binghamton Breakfast Rotary Club achieved a significant milestone for their club on November 19, 2025.  What’s even more special, this milestone was made possible by a single member of the Binghamton Breakfast Rotary Club.  His name is William Scheider, and he has been a member or Rotary for over forty years, holding many officer titles during that time.  He feels very strong about his philanthropic donations to the Rotary Foundation which uses this money to fund meaningful projects around the world.  This isn’t the first time he has made charitable donations in names of other Rotary Club members, but it does strike a chord that is very special for a single Rotary Club.  There are only two other Rotary clubs in upstate New York from Binghamton to Syracuse to Albany that have this status.

The Binghamton Breakfast Rotary Club achieved status as a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. This recognition is granted to Rotary clubs in which all dues-paying members are Paul Harris Fellows. Past District Governor Rocky Martinez, and Area Governor Betty Casey were on hand to congratulate the club on this momentous occasion at a special dinner.  Bill also honored several spouses and children of club members, naming them Paul Harris Fellows for volunteering their time to Binghamton Breakfast projects over the years.

A Paul Harris Fellow is an individual who has contributed, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1000 to The Rotary Foundation. Rotary established this recognition in 1957 to recognize and appreciate substantial contributions to the Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty. The Rotary Foundation just recently announced that it has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for the 17th consecutive year.
Rotary International is a global network of more than 1.2 million members in 45,000 clubs, that was founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1905 by Paul Harris, an attorney. In the first 16 years after the organization was formed, it spread to six continents. Today, Rotary International is known for advances in polio eradication. In 1988, 125 countries had active cases, and now polio is endemic only two countries.
