Our club was happy to have Phillip Ginter, Executive Director of Ross Park Zoo, join us for our breakfast meeting, and give us a history and an update on the Ross Park Zoo. The Zoo started as a park by the Ross family, then the City of Binghamton managed the park and zoo for many years. In 1977, the Southern Tier Zoological Society has overseen the operation and maintenance of the Ross Park Zoo, and leases the land from the City of Binghamton and operate as a 501c3 non profit organization. There are many changes coming to the zoo to make it for accessible. The carousel is owned by the City of Binghamton and is undergoing some historical refurbishment.
